The Farmer's Photo
The Farmer’s Photo
Ingredients:
• ATC Stampstamp Vertical. MA44-H. Happens to be 2.5” x 3.5” - the exact size for an Artist’s Trading Card.
• A6 card silk card (although it should work on ANY card, it doesn’t soak through to the back of this stock - because it is coated)
• Black/white photocopy of your snapshop. I use an old inkjet fax/printer/copier by Brother. It’s as old as dirt!
• Slate and Cloudy Blue Adirondack inkpads
• Speedball Brayer
• Nail Varnish Remover
• Teaspoon
• Cotton-wool
Method:
• Lay the photocopy facedown on the A6 silk card.
• Dab the nail varnish remover over the back of the copied picture with a cotton wool ball. Don’t oversoak it.
• Rub the wet area with the back of a teaspoon (burnish it), and the photo will transfer onto the card. It’s that easy!
• Now for the stamping. To frame the photo, let’s use the ATC Stampstamp. Ink up the Stampstamp in Slate and place over the farmer’s picture. Allow to dry.
• Cut out 2 masks: one to cover up the Stampstamp / Farmer’s picture (and do cut out the serrated edges, too). Let’s call it the A-Mask. Err... don’t forget to make sure that the sticky end of the Post-it is involved!
• The other mask is to cover up the area outside the stamp, so we have to stamp the Postage stamp onto copy paper and cut out the centre. Let’s call it the B-Mask
• Let’s do the inside first - the actual Postage stamp. Using the B-Mask and a makeup sponge, dab Slate and Cloudy blue Adirondack ink in through the aperture, so that the photo-picture becomes one with the area. Blue to the top and Slate to the Bottom.
• Now swop masks. Using the A-Mask, cover up the ATC Stamp, complete with serrated edges, and let’s get the Brayer out!
• Ink up the Brayer in Cloudy Blue, Do a wheelie on the edge nearest to your thumb, and gently spin the faded blue into the top righthand corner.
• Do the same thing in the bottom righthand corner with the Slate colour.
• Nice. Very, very nice. And the best part is that you can make a whole family collage of various photos without hurting ANY photos!
